A wine a day

A wine a day: Sicilia, Puglia, Piemonte

Monday: "Terzavia" NV Blanc de Blancs Metodo Classico Brut Nature - Marco De Bartoli. A very rare - maybe unique - methode classique with grillo grapes. An original, delicious sparkling wine very tasty, with flavors of aromatic herbs, yellow fruits, salt.. sun and elegance. An amazing Sicilian sparkling wine.

Tuesday: "Puglia Rosso" Igt 2011 - Giordano Vini. Deep ruby in the glas with purple nuances, flavors of dark chocolate, bitter almonds, plums, dark spicey. Consistent in mouth, well balanced in body/alchol, with a clean finish. A good wine...although not unforgettable.

A wine a day (for a week): from Alto Adige, Trentino,Valpolicella, Sicilia, NZ

Busy week, the last of May. Many wine tastings, the most very interesting. These are my notes, with a news: sometimes in these reviews (not always, I mean) I'll introduce my "best(s) of the week", the wine(s) that impressed me more.

Monday: "Pinot Grigio 2012" - Roverè della Luna. From a cooperative, maybe the best pinot gris I tasted in the last months. Pale color with green nuances, incredibly fruity (white peer and ripe peach) with a fine personality, elegant and juicy, smooth and long. Drinkable with satisfaction. Best of the week for the white wines .

Tuesday: "Insolia 2011" - Feudo Principi di Butera. Tropical yellow fruits (ananas, banana) with a touch of white pear at nose and in mouth, for this Insolia very long and smooth. Clean in the final, with a touch of white flowers.

A wine a day (for a week): from Tuscany, Lombardia, Campania

Monday: "Sassabruna Monteregio di Massa Marittima Doc 2010" -Rocca di Montemassi . From his new estate Rocca di Montemassi in Tuscany, Zonin realized this "strong" blend: sangiovese (of course), with a touch of kindness (merlot) and a bit of spicing (sirah). An international-style wine, to pair with grilled meat and a fireplace (mainly).

Tuesday; Tenuta Vicario "Fiano di Avellino Docg 2012" - Grotta del Sole. What a delightful white wine. Fragrant, floreal, smooth, full. Pastry, white chocolate, almonds, rose water, looks like a palatial cake as the renowned pastiera napoletana. A very yummy wine.
