Garda, the lake in a sunny day

Garda, the lake in a sunny day

Bubbles for your summer

July 06, 2021 in Viaggi & Assaggi, News from worldwide

Maybe there’s no better season than summer to enjoying a glass of sparkling wine. And likely there’s no better place to attend a sparkling wine event than the Lake of Garda. Recently the Garda village has hosted SpumantItalia, a national event (organized by the magazine Bubble’s*) entirely reserved for Italian sparkling wine production.

If you love Italian wines, the choice can be (almost) unlimited: every Italian region offers more than an option, either classic method or Martinotti method. It has been a great opportunity to realize that dozens of million bottles of Prosecco sold all around the world are a significant part of the national sparkling wine production, but aren’t all. Italy has so many grapes - both local and international - and most of them are suitable to give great bubbles. Currently, Italy produces 751 million bottles of sparkling wines - and just 48 million bottles are pink bubbles. So, if you are getting tired to drink the usual sparkling stuff, white or rosé, here there are a few alternatives you can enjoy with your meals.

Kettmeier: “Athesis” Brut Alto Adige DOC 2018 c.m. (classic method) - the flavors and the elegance of SouthTyrol. Memories of fresh shadowy woods with a touch of balsamic scents.

Albino Armani: “Clé”, Trento DOC 2016 c.m.: a sip, a flash: you are in a field of apples under the summer sun, the air smells of honey and green fruits. A friendly bubble.

A glass of Lambrusco Paltrinieri

A glass of Lambrusco Paltrinieri

Paltrinieri: “La Riserva” Lambrusco di Sorbara DOC Riserva Spumante Brut, Martinotti method: the quintessential Italian fizzy sip is back! If you don’t know Lambrusco yet can begin with this wine, and a new world of empathy, joie de vivre and fun will will open up to you.

There’s a world beyond Prosecco.
