A dispetto della sua fama mondiale, non sono molti i libri dedicati all’Amarone (e agli altri vini della Valpolicella). Finora, anzi, nessuno di quei pochi sul mercato si è preoccupato di partire dalle semplici curiosità della gente comune per spiegare la meravigliosa complessità di una tecnica millenaria come l’appassimento, la modernità del Ripasso, la ricchezza di gusto e profumi di un Recioto o la freschezza immediata e la bevibilità di un Valpolicella. A volte, chi non è di questo settore, ma è un semplice consumatore, o anche un appassionato alle prime armi , può avere delle domande che possono apparire scontate, o perfino ingenue. Qualcuno proverebbe anche un filo d’imbarazzo a porle nel contesto di una visita ad una cantina, o in una degustazione. Non a caso il vino viene spesso accusato di essere un prodotto snob, complicato, che intimidisce. Finisce così che molta gente rinuncia a far domande apertamente, ma alla prima occasione apre il browser su un computer…
… e cerca su Google.
E’ quello che ho fatto anch’io, curiosa di capire cosa la gente vuol sapere dell’Amarone (e degli altri vini della Valpolicella). Ne è nato un piccolo libro, nel quale sono raccolte oltre 100 domande, principalmente sui vini. Più qualche curiosità. Più qualche altra notizia. E se ancora resta qualche domanda in sospeso, il cantiere ormai è aperto: fatemelo sapere, e cercherò di rispondere anche a quell’interrogativo.

Despite its worldwide fame, there are not many books dedicated to Amarone (and to the other wines of Valpolicella). So far, indeed, none of those few on the market bothered to start from the simple curiosity of common people to explain the wonderful complexity of a millenary technique such as appassimento, the modernity of Ripasso, the richness of taste and aromas of Recioto wine, or the immediate freshness and drinkability of Valpolicella wine. Sometimes, those who do not belong to this world, but are simple consumers, or even novice wine lovers, may have questions that may seem obvious, or even naive. Someone would even feel a bit embarrassed to ask them in the context of a visit to a winery, or during a tasting. It is not by chance that wine is often accused of being a snob product, complicated, intimidating. This is how many people give up asking questions openly, but on the first occasion, they open the browser on a computer...
... and Google it.
That's what I did, curious to understand what people want to know about Amarone (and other Valpolicella wines). The result is a small ebook, in which are collected more than 100 questions, mainly about wines. Plus some curiosities. Plus some more news. And if there are still some questions left, the (virtual) site is now open: let me know, and I will try to answer them as well.
