From now on, wine tourists visiting the Morellino di Scansano (Tuscany) production area have a new tool to make their experience more enjoyable and safe: VINOMETRO.
It's the new free tool that the Morellino di Scansano Consortium offers to wine lovers who wish to learn more about wine and visit wineries in the region. The tool can be found on the Consortium website and is free.
“Our mission is to promote the territory and the excellence of Morellino di Scansano, ensuring experiences that are memorable but also responsible,” says Consortium President Bernardo Guicciardini Calamai. “With VINOMETRO, we are providing a new and accessible tool for everyone to improve the safety and quality of wine tourism, helping our wineries and operators design tasting routes that respect visitors' needs.”
VINOMETRO* is based on Widmark's method and allows real-time calculation of the Potential Alcohol Content (BAC). It also provides a Quality Score, an indicator that assesses the overall quality and safety of the proposed tastings.
The tool takes into account important variables like the number of wines tasted, the quantities consumed, the presence of food pairings, and the duration of the experience. In this way, wineries and their visitors have a responsible approach to the discovering Morellino di Scansano wines. Tourists can control their alcohol levels while wineries can evaluate the reliability and balance of their offerings. This makes it easier to correct any proposals and make wine tourism experiences more curated and in line with the expectations of a knowledgeable public.
