"Ambassadors and custodians of culture and territories" will be the leitmotif of the incoming Sicilia En Primeur 2023, the annual renowned wine event organized by Assovini since 2004. It means underscoring the association's role in becoming the spokesperson for the knowledge of a territory through its wines and producers as promoters of quality, scenic beauty, and the uniqueness of Sicily's historical-archaeological heritage. Assovini is the association of Sicilian wine producers, formed by 100 wineries that share the goal of promoting quality Sicilian wine worldwide. Its current president is Laurent Bernard de la Gatinais, Tenuta Rapitalà's (Gruppo Italiano Vini) president.
Sicilia En Primeur - or, briefly, SEP - is one of Italy's most meaningful and essential wine events. It's a four-day traveling event where tastings, tours, masterclasses, and conferences alternate, featuring producers and members of "Assovini Sicilia" and the national and international press. These days, people have a unique opportunity to discover the richness of contemporary Sicily. Although selected Italian and foreign journalists are invited to find out the complexity of the Sicilian historical and cultural heritage in all its aspects every year, the main focus is Sicilia wine production and its world, which faces many tough daily challenges, starting from those of climate change ones.
This year the event takes place in Taormina and Radicepura di Giarre from the 9th to the 13th of May.
