A wine a day: Sicilia, Puglia, Piemonte
Monday: "Terzavia" NV Blanc de Blancs Metodo Classico Brut Nature - Marco De Bartoli. A very rare - maybe unique - methode classique with grillo grapes. An original, delicious sparkling wine very tasty, with flavors of aromatic herbs, yellow fruits, salt.. sun and elegance. An amazing Sicilian sparkling wine.
Tuesday: "Puglia Rosso" Igt 2011 - Giordano Vini. Deep ruby in the glas with purple nuances, flavors of dark chocolate, bitter almonds, plums, dark spicey. Consistent in mouth, well balanced in body/alchol, with a clean finish. A good wine...although not unforgettable.
Wednesday: "Albamarina" Passito Sicilia Doc - Cantine Barbera. With the native grape catarratto, here there is a slightly sweet wine, with a (almost) perfect balance among sugar, alchol, and lavander flavors. Not a dessert wine, thankfully! absolutely to drink eating pasta and salty fish. It could be a very interesting experience. Best of the week.
Thursday: "Nero d'Avola" 2010 Sicilia Igt - Nino Barraco. An amazing champion of Nero d'Avola, with a dark and bright red color in the glass and nice scents of plum and incense, blackberries and cherries. A bouquet of small sweet red fruits that you find also in mouth. Nice glass, very drinkable.
Friday: "Dietro le case" 2012 Inzolia Menfi Doc - Cantine Barbera. A fruity, rich white wine. Almond, peer, peach, and many bites of yellow tropical fruits for this wine with a long finish
Saturday; "Barolo Bussia" 2008 - Silvano Bolmida. Very dark sensations at nose and in mouth. Plum, black pepper, tobacco, licorice, smooth tannins and a clear and long finish.
Sunday: "SP68" 2012 Nero d'Avola e Frappato Terre Siciliane IGT - Arianna Occhipinti. What a beautful nose! Red fruits, red flowers, with a touch of silk... and with a so low alchol it is almost too drinkable.
