Have you never set foot in Verona? If you are a tourist who love the culture, the romance, the music and so on, this Venetian city is a perfect destination for a trip. And if you are a wine lover, it definitely worths a visit.
Not only Verona is the headquarters of the renowned international wine and spirits exhibition, Vinitaly, but it recently has even been officially proclaimed "Internation City of Vine And Wine" by OIV.
"It's a recognition that honors the entire wine sector and a territory such as the Veneto area which also this year marks a boom in export world wide" the regional councilor for agriculture Federico Caner claimed. " It is the confirmation of the great role of a territory that is increasingly identified with a product. Every year this link is renewed with Vinitaly, which in 2024 celebrated its 56th edition with 4,000 cellars, 1,200 top buyers, 70,000 visitors, 65 countries represented ".
Verona boasts 28,000 ha of vineyards, an annual wine production around 8 million hectoliters. It has 14 appellations (DOC), and a range of wine of all the categories. Red and white, still and sparkling, dry and sweet. And all of them are made mainly with autochthonous grapes, and sometimes with techniques of wine making of a couple of millennials old (as the withering process for making Amarone and Recioto della Valpolicella)
The OIV is the international organization of the vineyard and wine, which includes 50 states and represents 87% of production and 71% of world consumption.
